CostCritter Data Deletion
Effective date: 16 June 2026 App: CostCritter App package: com.signius.costcritter Provider: Signius Contact: signiusprojects@gmail.com
This page explains how to delete the data you have entered into the CostCritter mobile app and web app.
CostCritter is a local-first app. It does not require an account, and your subscription, budget, and expense data is stored on your device or in your browser rather than on a CostCritter server. Because of this, you are in full control of deleting your data, and you can do so at any time without contacting us.
What Data CostCritter Stores
CostCritter stores the information you enter directly on your device or in your browser, including:
- Subscriptions, recurring expenses, budgets, budget logs, and optional income values.
- Imported bank statement data, categorisation rules, and price change history.
- Local profiles, custom categories, tags, groups, and app preferences.
CostCritter does not store this content in a cloud account, so there is no online account to delete.
Delete Individual Items
You can delete specific entries directly inside the app:
- Open the subscription, expense, budget, or other item you want to remove.
- Use the delete or remove option for that item.
- The item is removed from your device or browser storage immediately.
Delete a Profile
If you use multiple local profiles, you can delete a single profile and all of the data associated with it:
- Open the profile management or settings screen.
- Select the profile you want to remove.
- Choose the delete profile option and confirm.
Deleting a profile removes the subscriptions, budgets, and other records stored under that profile.
Delete All App Data
To remove all CostCritter data at once, choose the option that matches how you use the app:
Mobile (iOS and Android)
- Uninstall the CostCritter app from your device. This removes the app's local database and stored data.
- Alternatively, clear the app's storage from your device settings (Android) or offload/delete and reinstall the app (iOS).
Web App
- Open your browser settings and clear site data / storage for the CostCritter web app domain.
- Clearing browser storage removes the locally stored CostCritter data for that browser.
After these steps, the locally stored CostCritter data is deleted from that device or browser.
Exported Files and Backups
If you exported or backed up data to another location, such as a JSON, CSV, PDF, or calendar file, or saved it to a cloud folder like iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive, you must delete those files separately from wherever you stored them. CostCritter does not control those locations.
Purchase Records
If you bought CostCritter premium, your purchase is processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. Purchase and receipt records held by Apple or Google are governed by their own policies, and you can manage them through your Apple or Google account.
On Android, when you complete the one-time premium purchase, the app sends an opaque Google Play purchase token to our validation endpoint (https://costcritter.netlify.app/.netlify/functions/verify-receipt) solely to confirm the purchase is valid before unlocking premium features. The token is validated in memory and is not written to a database or otherwise retained after validation, so there is no stored server-side copy for us to delete. This data is not your subscription or finance content.
Requesting Help
Because CostCritter does not use accounts, we generally cannot access or identify data stored only on your device, so we cannot delete it on your behalf. If you have questions about deleting your data, contact:
